How to Turn a $25 Giftcard Into $30

ALWAYS check and see if there are coupons out there for the stores that you have giftcards from! My friend Beth gave me a Kohl's giftcard for my birthday, and I knew that there was a $5 coupon out there just for signing up for their email list. I wanted to get some bedding or other house-y stuff. After browsing through the store, I found a set of sheets for 50% off ($24.99) and a gold waterfall valance at 90% off that is perfect for my bedroom window ($2.90). After tax, I got .45 back in change. :P So use those coupons to stretch your savings, even with giftcards.

Hi Tessa,
Do the pharmacies/chain drugstores in your area offer gift cards for transferring prescriptions? I'm lucky enough to have been able to do those multiple times with Rite Aid, Walgreens and a local store called Bartell Drugs; Target and Kmart offer them too, apparently.
One prescription alone has already earned me $115 worth of gift cards. Timing is everything; most of the stores won't let you do this more than once every six months.
Last night I took a new prescription, originally filled at Walgreens, over to Rite Aid. I'll get a $30 gift card that I plan to send to an elderly relative whose needs aren't being met by Social Security and Medicare. (Yeah, I was surprised, too.)
I wrote an article for the Smart Spending blog about how to transfer prescriptions. You can find it at http://blogs.moneycentral.msn.com/smartspending/archive/2008/03/07/transfer-prescriptions-for-fun-and-profit.aspx.
Thanks for mentioning me in your blog in May. I appreciate it, and I'm bookmarking yours.
Best regards,
