But most of us couldn't handle the disgusting-ness.
Once I was taking a nap and dreamed I heard water running. As I awoke I figured it was just the sound of my upstairs neighbors using the bathroom. Well, kind of: Water was pouring through the ceiling! It turned out that his kids were visiting and one of them clogged up the toilet. No one noticed. Like you, I had to take everything out of the bathroom, scrub with bleach water and wash all the towels in case any of the water had hit them.
As an apartment manager, I've had to deal with only two nasty toilet incidents, but several times I've had to fix really nasty garbage disposals -- as in, they clogged and stopped working but the tenants didn't tell me until days had gone by. I'd be working with a disposal full of rotting food.
I asked one tenant how long this had been going on. "Oh, it stopped working four or five days ago. I finally called you because I couldn't stand the smell any more."
I swear.
Some things really ARE best left to the professionals.Donna Freedmanhttp://blogs.moneycentral.msn.com/smartspendingnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33509930.post-86707352605866866712008-09-19T15:27:00.000-06:002008-09-19T15:27:00.000-06:00Ah, I paid $95 last week for a plumber to stop my ...Ah, I paid $95 last week for a plumber to stop my toilet from running like crazy.Gingernoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33509930.post-49778537127355355452008-09-18T20:49:00.000-06:002008-09-18T20:49:00.000-06:00oh lord do i feel your disgusting pain. our baseme...oh lord do i feel your disgusting pain. our basement wall caved in w/all the flooding this year, and with it, it cracked the sewer line. for weeks there was nothing i could do about the stench of rotten toilet air. it was so embarassing. all is well now, but ew. just ew.Lacyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10260855014452559160noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33509930.post-86609400275717067122008-09-18T17:26:00.000-06:002008-09-18T17:26:00.000-06:00EW!
